Queen's Remembers - Indigenous Plinth Unveiling

    When:
    Monday, October 16, 2017
    2:00 PM ā€“ 4:00 PM
    Where:
McGibbon Walk, between Douglas Library and Ontario Hall
    Find on Campus Map
    Description:

Join Principal Daniel Woolf and representatives from the local Indigenous community as we unveil a commemorative plinth to honour the Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee, upon whose traditional lands Queenā€™s was built.

This plinth will be the first in a series as part of the ā€œQueenā€™s Remembersā€ initiative. Queenā€™s Remembers is designed to commemorate those who have made significant and noteworthy contributions to the history of Queenā€™s University. Over the coming months, additional commemorative plinths will be unveiled across campus to remember and recognize these groups.

Each plinth will comprise a concrete pillar which holds either a sturdy weatherproof ā€˜bookā€™ containing pages of text and images or a simple plaque with no pages, depending on the layout and the subject. These plinths are designed to help staff and faculty, students, and other visitors to the campus form a more complete picture of the history of Queenā€™s.
