Description:
The Blanket Exercise allows participants to gain an understanding about the shared history between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada by walking through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance. Everyone will be actively involved as they step onto blankets that represent the land, and into the role of First Nations, Inuit and later Métis peoples.
This activity complements the novel the Break which is affiliated with the 2017-2018 ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Reads program. ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Reads participants, whether they have read the book or not, are encouraged to attend the exercise and all members of the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ community are welcome to the following session:
