By providing this sense of autonomy (choice and agency), managers can reduce their own work burden and coach employees to more meaningful contributions, preventing against burnout.
This is one of the five core courses required for the Enhancing Wellbeing and Preventing Burnout (EWPB) Certificate.
Description: While managers and organizations may believe that burnout happens when someone has 'too much work', the causes run much more deeply. Upon seeing an employee who is starting to struggle with workload, managers may have a natural instinct to demonstrate compassion and alleviate their suffering by jumping in, doing more work themselves, and telling the employee how they should be prioritizing their workload and time. However, this goes against what many employees actually need to alleviate burnout: a sense of control and autonomy (choice and agency). Managers can reduce their own work burden and coach employees to more meaningful contributions, without the burnout as a result.
This program is offered only to managers with direct reports. Confirmation that you manage staff will be required upon registration.
