¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Special Collections holds the private library of John Buchan (1875-1940), 1st Baron Tweedsmuir and Governor General of Canada from 1935-1940.

Buchan was a prolific author of over 450 books and articles including his most well-known novel, The Thirty-Nine Steps.

John Buchan also was granted an honorary doctorate by ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥.

The Buchan Library was acquired through the generous benefaction of Colonel and Mrs. R.S. McLaughlin of Oshawa who purchased the collection in 1955 - the purchase being orchestrated through Leonard Brockington, ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ 10th rector.
