Donor Story:
Jane Davis was a trailblazer, being one of a select handful of women entering the Sciences at Queen’s in 1969, graduating with a joint Math and Chemistry degree in 1973. While she initially targeted a career in Medicine after graduation, Jane decided instead to build upon her math training from Queen’s to begin a career in business - where she was quickly recognized for her astute business acumen. After having three daughters and many progressive appointments, in 1999 Jane was named Head of Global Risk Management and Compliance at RBC Investments and held that position until her retirement in 2004. Her retirement was short lived, as her energy and passion for business called her back into action. Jane subsequently held Directorship positions at numerous Canadian financial institutions and charities, until her passing from cancer in 2014.
One of Jane’s passions was giving back to the community and mentoring other women to succeed in business, and she would be thrilled to know that this fund was established to assist upper year students in achieving their goals. Her one ask would be for these students to "pay it forward" and mentor others as they move forward in their careers.
