Amrita V. Singh, Law’12
Queen’s University Council Member
As an intellectual property litigator and partner of the global intellectual property firm Marks & Clerk, Amrita V. Singh is doing exactly what she dreamed of while at Queen’s University Faculty of Law – advocating for inventors and creators and helping them protect their intellectual property. And as an active member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, and Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, amongst others, she is constantly looking for ways to give back.
In addition to working on diversity initiatives at Marks & Clerk, and mentoring female and diverse junior lawyers and students, Amrita supports the Queen’s Law School Fund and gives of her time as an elected University Council member. “I think it is important that students and young lawyers not only hear about in the abstract, but see, examples of successful lawyers. Being a lawyer and partner who is female and a person of colour, I am able to lead by example in a unique way. Supporting the Queen’s Law School Fund and the university is one of the ways I do that.”
