The Queen’s community was saddened to learn of the recent passing of pediatric allergist and artist, Dr. Margaret Gibson, MD’76. Through her estate, Dr. Gibson leaves a lasting legacy in medicine and mental-health advocacy.
Motivated by a desire to address the neglected field of children's mental health, she thoughtfully included a bequest in her will to establish the J. Henry Gibson & Muriel Stiver Lecture on Mental Health of our Children. This annual lecture, named in memory of her parents, aims to bridge the knowledge gap in pediatric mental health, bringing in qualified speakers to educate ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ clinicians, nurses, and community educators.
Dr. Gibson's influence also expands into the world of art, as her devotion to the craft of rug hooking inspired her to donate a beautiful rendition of the Queen’s crest, which hangs in Grant Hall to this day.
Her dedication to helping others will contribute to the advancement of knowledge in a crucial yet frequently overlooked area of psychology.
