Homecoming is a chance for alumni to reconnect with old classmates and spend some time with students. For many, returning to campus after years away can bring a lot of surprises. While the university is always evolving, especially during Initiative Campaign which concluded this year, Queen’s has seen a number of new buildings and other changes on campus. As our campus has grown over the last decade, so too have the possibilities within it, including the creation of 23 new research chairs and professorships, helping to ensure that Queen’s will continue to be a home to ground-breaking research and scholarship and new achievements in the performing arts for many years to come.
Thanks to the collective support of our alumni and other supporters, Queen’s has a new state-of-the-art Medical Building, Athletics and Recreation Centre, the stunning multi-venue performance facility -Isabel Bader Centre for the Preforming Arts, and two new student residences. Several spaces on campus have also changed. These include major renovations to Law’s Sir John A Macdonald Hall, a 75,000 square foot addition to Goodes Hall, and newly redesigned interactive learning spaces in Ellis Hall. Additionally, donors contributed to the opening of three new athletic fields (Nixon, Miklas-McCarthy and Tindall Fields) and the revitalization of Richardson Stadium.
There are many ways that returning alumni can get reacquainted with the older parts of campus and tour our newest buildings and learning spaces.
Take part in a drop-in campus tour led by a Queen’s student. Campus Tours will leave at regular intervals from Grant Hall as part of Homecoming’s Alumni Meet & Greet. Catch a tour any time between 1 pm-6 pm on Friday, October 14th and 8:30 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 15th.
If joining a campus tour does not fit with your Homecoming schedule, you can contact the Campus Tours Team to arrange your own private tour, tours@queensu.ca, or use the to do your own tour.
