Queen’s alumni have elected 11 new representatives to University Council – 10 for a four-year term and one of two years – with a starting date of Sept. 1, 2022.
The successful candidates are:

- Dr. Kieva Hranchuk, Artsci'09
- Chessa Jope, Com'09
- Erin Polansky, Artsci'96
- Saara Romu, Artsci'98
- Frannie Shen, Com'21
- Amrita V. Singh, Law'12 (re-elected)
- Susan Smith, Artsci'91 (re-elected)
- Elaine Wu, Artsci’97, Artsci’98, MIR’00, Law’03 (re-elected)
The successful candidate for the two-year position is:
- Heather Black, Sc'80 (re-elected)
An online vote for the 10 positions was held from May 31 to June 14.
A total of 42 candidates put their names forward for the four-year term positions and another five for the two-year position.
Established by statute in 1874, University Council serves as an advisory body to the university. Members provide advice on issues relating to the prosperity and well-being of Queen’s. The council’s responsibilities include the appointment of the Chancellor and the election of six members to the Board of Trustees.
