As the world watches the Russian invasion of Ukraine in horror, we have convened a panel of Queen’s research experts to help us understand the ongoing crisis and its impact.
Queen’s Principal Patrick Deane has said that, “as the crisis deepens it has become necessary also to declare publicly how profoundly repugnant the Russian invasion of Ukraine is to the values upon which institutions like our own are built.”
Our panel of research experts will:
- Walk through the history of Russia-Ukraine relations
- Explore what this war means in a geopolitical context
- Discuss the current and future impact for people around the world, and
- Answer questions from those in attendance (Q&A)
Panelists:
- Dr. Zsuzsa Csergő, Professor, Department of Political Studies
- , Associate Professor, Faculty of Law
- Dr. Thomas Hughes, Post-Doctoral Fellow, Centre for International and Defence Policy
The panel will be facilitated by Buzzfeed writer and CBC podcaster Elamin Abdelmahmoud, Artsci'11, and Steffonn Chan, Sc’07, ֱ Alumni Germany Branch representative.
You can submit questions in advance by emailing the Branches team. Registration is open to all alumni and friends. The event time listed is in Eastern Daylight Time (noon-1 pm EDT), which is 6 pm CET, 4 pm GMT, and 9 am PDT. A recording of this discussion will be shared with all registrants.
