I am writing to update you on the transition plan for the Office of Advancement in light of the departure of Vice-Principal (Advancement) Karen Bertrand on June 14.
I am pleased to announce that Michelle Fuko has been named Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), overseeing all operational aspects of advancement, including the authorities typically assigned to the Vice-Principal (Advancement). The appointment of a CAO was a strategic decision to ensure we navigate the transition period smoothly while positioning us for sustained growth and success in our advancement efforts. Michelle and I will work together on matters related to strategy and direction setting in the absence of a Vice-Principal (Advancement).
As you know, Michelle joined ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ in 2021 as the Associate Vice-Principal (Development), leading a team of university-wide and faculty-based development staff tasked with deepening relationships and inspiring donors to support ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥. With her extensive experience and track record of excellence, Michelle will provide important support for the university in the months ahead.
A search for a new Vice-Principal (Advancement) has already begun and we expect that process to take approximately a year.
Please join me in wishing Michelle the very best as she takes on this new challenge — I am confident she will provide leadership ensuring a smooth transition for the Office of Advancement and the countless donors and alumni who interact with ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ every day.
