Late last fall we completed a re-organization of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. One change involved combining the Annual Giving, Alumni Services, and NEW Young Alumni Engagement units together. I thought I would share an update on their most recent activities to provide you with a sense of how this new amalgamated team supports our Alumni, Advancement, and our faculty partners.
Young Alumni Engagement & Giving
- The Value Survey returned over 300 alumni interested in speaking with someone from Advancement. We are sorting the data so we can connect with these individuals by Sept. 30. Stay tuned for more details on ways you may wish to be involved.
- The Calling 21 Program will be executed in partnership with the Alumni strategy team and will aim to connect with all new grads with the help of alumni volunteers by the end of Feb. 2022. Stay tuned for more details.
- We are exploring a texting platform that will best serve our strategic interactions with alumni, particularly our younger demographic. Stay tuned for more details.
Alumni Services
As we know, email is one of our most popular communication tools used within Advancement with alumni, which is why Mel McEwen is leading a large-scale Email and Mobile Phone Number Acquisition Campaign to obtain ~46,000 email addresses and mobile numbers from alumni who graduated between 1990 and 2020. Mel will be in touch with faculty partners throughout this initiative to encourage staff participation, volunteer recruitment, and review lists with prospect assignments.

Fun fact
Colours of the university
¾ÅŠćÖ±²„ official colours are gold, blue, and red - tricolour! The colours were chosen in 1884 by the president of the Alma Mater Society and the captains of the university's football and soccer teams.
Previously, the only formally designated colours at the university belonged to the soccer team, whose members wore "dark red stockings, white knickerbockers, and dark-blue jerseys." The committee picked red, blue, and gold after weeks of debate because they were the main colours of the university's coat of arms.
By early this century, the red, gold, and blue had become a ¾ÅŠćÖ±²„ trademark and its teams had come to be known as the "Tricolour," a nickname superseded only in recent decades by the "Gaels."
