For the last couple of years, Advancement has been providing a year-end report to the Deputy Provost (Academic Operations and Inclusion) Dr. Teri Shearer, highlighting our work in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives (EDII) on campus related to the recommendations from the Principal’s Implementation Committee on Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion (PICRDI) and the Yakwanastahentéha Aankenjigemi Extending the Rafters: Truth and Reconciliation Commission Task Force Final Report.

The reports are not necessarily user-friendly as they get rolled up into a board report, but here is the Advancement 2020-21 EDII report.

COVID-19: State of the Ontario nonprofit sector one year later

In May 2021, (ONN) conducted a sector-wide survey with (l’AFO) to gather critical data needed to help the sector build back from COVID-19. Nearly 3,000 nonprofits all around the province responded to the survey.

This survey was open to all nonprofits in Ontario, including charities, nonprofit cooperatives and grassroots groups, with a mission to serve a public benefit.

The reveals much about nonprofits’ commitment to continue serving communities, the fragmented and inadequate government measures to respond to the COVID-19 crisis, and the work ahead as Ontario transitions into a recovery.

Book club discussion feedback

Survey results are in from the Other Side of the Game book talk on June 23. Of the 16 people who attended, eleven offered feedback. All of the respondents felt the session met their expectations - several comments indicated it exceeded expectations!

Celina Caesar-Chavannes, Senior Advisor, Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity Initiatives in the Faculty of Health Sciences, was an excellent facilitator with incredible knowledge and insight.  The group was small and intimate, and while we would loved to have more colleagues join, the conversation was rich and relevant.
