HIST 498 China's Revolutions, 1911-1949 Units: 3.00
AÂ course on China's nationalist and communist revolutions. Readings explore rival revolutionaries' goals and programs. Seminars examine the internal and international struggles affecting the outcome of the civil war of 1946-1949.

Requirements: Prerequisite Registration in a HIST Major or Joint Honours Plan and a minimum grade of C+ in 6.0 units from HIST 300-330.

- Summarize concisely the trajectories of revolutionary movements in China from 1911 to 1949.
- Contextualize events in China during the period in relation to trends occurring elsewhere in the world.
- Understand the significance of China's revolutionary legacy and explain the origins of Chinese nationalism.
